Workplace Injuries

Workplace injury can happen to anyone in any business setting, and the number of workplace injuries can be staggering.  A recent study shows that nearly one million U.S. workers each year experience an injury that causes them to miss a day or more on the job, and workplace injuries are the sixth leading cause of disability claims.  In Illinois alone, the same study says there were 26,500 workplace injuries that required job transfer or restrictions (at 0.6 such cases per 100 workers, roughly comparable to the national average), and nearly 111,000 disability claims filed.  Even many claims not filed as injuries, such as degenerative back disorders, involve conditions that can be job-related.

When the negligence of an individual or company causes a wrongful workplace injury or death, WMK can help survivors or their families secure compensation for the physical and emotional trauma that occurred. If the injury occurred on the job, and someone other than the employer was at fault – for example, the manufacturer of a piece of machinery – we have successfully collected additional damages for the accident beyond workers compensation. We have taken numerous actions against workplaces, businesses and other responsible parties when an untimely injury or death was caused by negligence, product failure or a similar catastrophic event.
